The role of audiovisual and digital media in society, the different forms of media, the audiovisual and media corporate culture, the theories of effectiveness
• The digital media genres and formats, the relation between content and format, the ethics and responsibilities in media production;
• Verbal and non verbal communication, usage of interpersonal communication techniques and tools for pitching and presentation;
• The operating of camera and sound equipment, the optical and acoustic basics and parameters, the technical standards and rules;
• The editing skills with Mac/ PC using standard software, the technical standards and rules, the wiring of equipment,
• The setting up of work stations for AV recording and editing, production and organisational workflows, coordination of system components;
• The analysis of various genres and formats, drama, storytelling and rules of composition, technical parameters, function and structure of required specification;
• The basics of video design, the production briefs for audio-visual media products; the conception of sketch, storyboard, shooting schedule, organising production roles; theme for production planning: topic, design elements, recording and broadcasting format;
• The synchronization of music recording, understanding the music as a design element, the colour correction and grading;
• Planning and implementing the production of video and audio material, compiling project related media databases, data organisation and archiving principles, data compression, working with font generator;
• The audiovisual and digital media assets management and budgeting;
• The understanding of national and international markets, structures and media organisations; meaning of media-data;
• The knowledge and understanding of broadcast and receiving facilities, wireless and wired connections, registration procedures,
• The compositing and 3 D-animation techniques;
• The copyright, intellectual property law, privacy law, international laws, licensing and royalties, work contracts, insurances, filming permits ;
• The Standards and format adjustment, data storage, usage of data banks and networks, streaming, archiving, indexing;
• The scientific work and methods for completing the final thesis;
• The use of Standard English and French (either speaking or writing) as communication tools for the film and digital media professionals.

This course presents students with multiple aesthetic approaches to editing and other high technology that will be applied in this information and technology Era.
Among other things, Students will learn how to apply concepts to their works, such as temporal and spatial continuity, as well as less traditional non-linear
techniques.
The course will also discuss the psychological and emotional effects of editing on the overall story. Additionally, students will learn to operate DaVinci Resolve digital editing software, which they will
use to edit their own films. Classes are supplemented with individual consultations at the computer.
